Whether we are doing the product development for a project or assigned to manage the project (or both), success depends on active project management and good communication. Knowing what has been completed, remaining, who is assigned the work, and being on track for the budget and schedule is critical. We apply standard project management practice to ensure the team is lead to achieving all of the project’s goals within the given constraints.

During my years working in and managing engineering departments, I haven’t seen anything that slows productivity and negatively affects a development team like poor standards and processes. Advancements in technology have given us great tools to develop and build products. However, without a stable foundation of good standards, procedures, and use of those tools, they can have the reverse effect on development.
As mentioned in the about section, I have spent my career focused on and learning about the proper way to apply modern engineering and product development tools to old school engineering standards and processes. Good standards and procedures, combined with a strong team, can overcome any product development challenge.
